My beautiful daughter was one years old last week and she is no longer a baby any more. She is all grown up and making sure that we all know it too!
Up until a few weeks ago, she wasn't that interested in feeding herself. Now, within a couple of weeks, all she wants to do is feed herself, one rice grain at a time if that's what it takes! She will let me feed from time to time, usually when she is very hungry, but if there is food in front of her which she can pick up and feed herself, she will do and will refuse to let anyone else feed her.
Just a few days after she turned one, she decided to go for a walk, unsupported. Three steps on her first day, seven or eight steps the next day and now the odd few steps a day as she pleases! She thinks it hilarious as she's doing it and giggles all the way until she falls down. I admit it is quite funny though. She walks with her hands out in front of her, like something out of the zombies movie, and there is no clear direction. You can see where she wants to go when she starts walking but then ends up slightly off her route as if she were drunk!!
I have stopped breast feeding her to sleep and I was worried that she wouldn't sleep without bawling her eyes out and then, being so exhausted from the crying that she would drop off to sleep. She was a bit off for a week but seems to have got used to the idea of not being breastfed and is happy to fall asleep in my arms. So grown up now and not reliant on me any more. I think I miss that part as much as she did but it is good too as I'm slowly getting my life back!
She can't properly talk yet, but she does like to have conversations with you in her own baby language. No idea what she is saying but the tone is like as if she is having a serious conversation!
So, the first big milestone in her life has gone by and my one year old daughter is now a little toddler. How fast this one year seems to have flown by!
